Welcome Letter
September 7, 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome! Seventh grade is an exciting time filled with many new experiences for your child. In English Language Arts, we will be exploring literature and engaging in rigorous academic writing.
Homework is assigned on a daily basis. The assignments should not take more than twenty minutes per day (excluding projects). This does not include independent reading. Your child should be reading for a minimum of 30 minutes per day. This is the best way to raise your child's reading level and increase vocabulary. Homework must be completed on time. Extra credit is not an option in this class.
I believe that the relationship between parents and teachers is vital to the success of all students. To that end, please write a brief letter or email describing your child. Let me know as little or as much information as you believe I need to know about your child not only as a student, but as a person. This will help me understand your child’s strengths and weaknesses and allow us to work as a team with your child. The letter may be returned to me by your child or sent via email to [email protected]. This year, we will also be able to communicate through Teach Hub and my website, www.christinaricher.weebly.com.
Our Class Contract
In order to create a safe and open environment for learning, there are different rules and procedures that must be learned first. This contract delineates these rules and the consequences if they are not followed.
Rules
Each and every student is a valuable part of our class and will be treated with the respect they deserve. Issues of misconduct are dealt with on an individual basis. The range of consequences spans from verbal warnings, parent notification/conference to suspension. I look forward to working with you and having a wonderful school year.
Sincerely,
Christina Richer
